JPT（Japanese Proficiency Test）

　Thank you for using the JPT Japanese Proficiency Test.

　It has been three years since the JPT, which was developed in 1985 and has been administered more than 370 times (as of September 2023), began full-fledged testing in Japan. However, the number of examinees has remained stagnant due to the spread of COVID-19 infection since the first year and restrictions on entry into Japan, as well as the recent rise in prices, which has caused labor costs and other costs to rise. In addition, the recent rise in prices has caused labor and other costs to skyrocket.
　In response, the Committee has made efforts to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency, but it has become difficult to maintain the current examination fees. Therefore, it is with deep regret that we announce the following revisions to examination fees in Japan, effective January 2024 (the 382nd examination).
